It has been reported that two individuals have been detained in relation to the theft of historic royal jewels, valued at 88 million euros, from the Louvre Museum in Paris, the capital of France. One of the suspects was apprehended at the airport, apparently attempting to leave the country.
According to a report on NTV, four thieves used a freight elevator of a truck parked outside a building to break a window and gain entry into the Apollo Gallery, where royal jewels were on display. They managed to steal nine pieces before making their escape. However, they dropped a crown that once belonged to Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III, during their getaway. The stolen items were reported to have a market value of 88 million euros.
French media reported that police have detained two individuals in connection with a robbery. It was noted that one of the apprehended was about to leave the country and was arrested last night at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, local time. The other suspect was captured in the suburb of SeineSaintDenis.
As the interrogation of the suspects continues, it was discovered that both individuals had previous criminal records.
