Nothing is as ghostly as the eerie connection between Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy, two of America's most notorious serial killers of the 20th century.
The Netflix biographical series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story dived into the duo's mysterious link. Call it coincidence or not, the similar historic events involving Dahmer and Gacy are too uncanny to ignore.
Referred to as the Milwaukee Cannibal or Milwaukee Monster, Jeffrey was born on May 21, 1960, and was killed on November 29 1994, at 34. He killed seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991 in Wisconsin and Ohio and was sentenced to fifteen terms of life imprisonment on February 17 1992.
His crimes involved sexual assault, dismemberment, cannibalism, necrophilia and preservation of body parts, including the skeleton.
Like Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy had a nickname, the Killer Clown, stemming from his work as a clown in children's hospitals and charitable events. Gacy was born on March 17 1942, and executed on May 1994, serving his death sentence issued on March 13 1980.
Gacy was a resident of Chicago who murdered 33 young men and teenage boys before his arrest on December 21 1978. He would lure his victims and trick them into wearing handcuffs under the guise of a magic trick before raping, torturing and killing them.
The final episode of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, titled 'God of Forgiveness, God of Vengeance', brings out the link between Dahmer and Gacy. It begins with the latter luring a young man to his ranch-style home with the promise of construction work before drugging, torturing and strangling him.
Before Dahmer found Christ while serving his life sentence, he consults the prison pastor and counselor. He says that many people think he is quite similar to Gacy, who also targeted male victims. But he thought that they were different because, unlike Gacy, he showed remorse and confessed to all his crimes.
The year of Gacy's arrest, 1978, was the same when Dahmer murdered his first victim, the hitchhiker Steven Hicks. Spooky right? There's more.
March 10, 1994, was an ominous day as it saw the execution of Gacy by lethal injection at Stateville Correctional Center. Meanwhile, Dahmer was getting spiritually purified through baptism at the Columbia Correctional Institution. Something unworldly must have taken place that day as there was a solar eclipse.
Unlike Dahmer, who atoned for his sins, Gacy remained defiant to the end, marking his final moment with the phrase 'kiss my ass.'
