On the island of Syros in Greece, there are approximately 3,000 cats. The organization named Syros Cats aims to protect these felines and provide them with the necessary care. Starting a volunteer project years ago for this purpose, the organization has relaunched this initiative. The primary task of the volunteers is to tend to the cats for 5 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Before delving into the details of the project, regrettably, we must inform you that the applications for this project are already filled.

So, what will the volunteers be doing?

The task for volunteers involves dedicating 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, to caring for cats. Your shift commences at 8 in the morning and wraps up at 1 in the afternoon. What you choose to do after that is entirely up to you. Throughout your working hours, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks. These include feeding cats with special needs, providing food for street and beach cats, taking caged cats out for treatment if necessary, cleaning litter boxes, tidying up their beds, and many similar duties. In essence, your role is to meet the cats' needs for food, cleanliness, care, medication, and of course, ample love.

Accommodation needs of the volunteers are taken care of by the organization. Each volunteer is provided with a separate room, though common areas such as the kitchen and bathroom are shared. However, the individual is responsible for their own transportation, lunch, and dinner expenses.

Veterinarians, nurses, or simply those who have a love for cats are all eligible to apply.

The organization is specifically seeking individuals over the age of 25. Having a background in veterinary studies is a plus for applying to this project, but simply having a love for cats is sufficient as well.

Naturally, such an appealing project has garnered a great deal of interest. Applications for the year 2026 have already been filled. However, the organization recommends following their social media accounts for updates on future projects.
