Read on to discover how these cozy blankets work and why they might be the sleep aid you've been searching for.

Winter is here. The weather has suddenly turned cold, and blankets have come out.

However, the change in weather can bring along some sleep issues. According to some research, there might be a solution for this.

The answer seems to lie in weighted blankets.

An article from Euronews reports that people who use weighted blankets tend to experience less anxiety. They also have a lower dependency on sleep medications.

Dr. Suzanne Dawson from Flinders University in Australia stated, 'Weighted blankets offer a tangible, drug-free intervention to improve sleep quality.'

However, these findings are less clear for young people and children. This study, conducted solely on adults, found benefits from using weighted blankets. Highlighting the importance of these findings, Dawson said, 'This comprehensive review was conducted to contribute to a change in practice, and our results were used to adjust state-wide protocols for using weighted blankets within public mental health services in South Australia.'

However, she also noted that there are still no standard recommendations on the type, weight, frequency, or duration of using weighted blankets.
