Hawkeye's sixth episode reveals the identity of the mystery Rolex watch. Hawkeye's first episode briefly mentions it, and by episode six, we actually understand what the watch represents. There are many uncertainties about what the watch represents especially for people who aren't as familiar with the Marvel canon and comic books. Read on to find out what's behind the mystery of the watch.
In Episode 4, when there is a list of names next to the watch that includes every member of the Barton family, we discover a little more about the watch. The identity of someone who has 'been out of the game for a time' could be revealed, potentially making this disastrous. The Hawkeye conclusion, Episode 6, makes a suggestion that it's his wife, Laura Barton.
Clint, finally able to spend Christmas with his family, presents the enigmatic Rolex watch to his wife Laura. As he hands it to her, Clint jokingly says, 'I want you to take better care of your stuff.'
When Laura turns the watch over, the S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem and the number 19 are visible. What does this entail, then? So maybe Laura is the person 'close to Clint,' as he claims in Episode 4, who has been absent from the game for some time.
Let's consider it. She has never been seen outside of the property where they reside. That seems a little... suspicious. Why does Laura Barton stay isolated on a farm all of her life?
When Clint, their children, and she go to see Rogers: The Musical, she is not even in New York City. We are aware that S.H.I.E.L.D. worked hard to find Clint and his family a safe haven, but perhaps this wasn't only because Clint is Hawkeye. It might be a result of Laura Barton being Mockingbird.
The most likely explanation for why Laura Barton is a superhero is that she is Mockingbird. Why? Mockingbird and Hawkeye are frequently coupled in comic books, after all.
It's also plausible that Laura, who goes by the name Bobbi Morse in the comic books, was once Bobbi Morse until she had to change it when she entered witness protection or went into hiding (or whatever the Bartons' official condition is).
In addition, the watch includes the number 19, which suggests that S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 19 may have owned it. Bobbi is known as Agent 19 and Mockingbird in the comic books.
Of course, the fact that Mockingbird and Hawkeye, two superhero names with avian themes, ended up together is fairly poetic. But it also gives veteran actress Linda Cardellini a plot that is much more important than what we had been expecting.
However, it is not clear if the MCU is rebooting to give Linda's character a bigger role or if Mockingbird will genuinely have a future in the MCU.
The MCU will finally be providing fans with a very pleasant experience if they can connect Linda Cardellini's Agent 19 to Netflix's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 19, who never uses the moniker Mockingbird in the series.
