Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is revolutionizing smartphone manufacturing with its newly established $330 million automated factory. Spanning 81,000 square meters, this cutting-edge facility is set to produce an impressive 10 million smartphones, achieving a production rate of one device every three seconds. The fully automated smart production lines are capable of operating 24/7 without human intervention. Xiaomi's CEO and founder, Lei Jun, states that the factory can diagnose and solve problems and optimize its processes autonomously.
Jun says, “We have 11 production lines. 100% of the core processes are automated. We developed all our manufacturing and production software to achieve this.”
The system involves machines working together to complete tasks. The facility, which remains clean with devices that collect dust at the micron level, uses smart machines for quality control. The facility theoretically has the capacity to produce one smartphone per second.
Among the models planned for production at the facility are next-generation smartphones like the MIX Fold 4 and MIX Flip.
The factory, said to be fully operational and ready for production, will play a significant role in the manufacturing of Xiaomi's first book-style foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi Mix Fold.
